Therapy With Me:

I am a warm and casual therapist who likes to meet my clients where they are and address the issues that are important to them. It is my goal to always be open, understanding, and respectful of what you bring to the table. I tend to take a strengths-based approach and allow my clients to take the lead. What does that look like? It means you're in the driver's seat, but I'm right beside you helping you navigate. Rather than pointing out your deficits, I'm more interested in helping you figure out what your strengths and resources are and how you can channel these to better meet the challenges you're facing.

How Therapy Will Help You

The perinatal period is full of challenges, whether you're finding it harder than you imagined to get pregnant, are struggling with a birth that didn't go according to plan or aren't thriving in a new parent role. We can process, vent, reframe or problem solve. Whatever you need.

You may also be finding that unresolved issues from your past are resurfacing. I am specially trained in a practice called EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing), an evidence based practice that facilitates the healing of trauma. My clients often find this to be a very efficient way of processing past hurts and letting go of the problematic patterns they always seem to be repeating.

Additionally, I incorporate a fair bit of cognitive behavioral therapy and emotion focused family therapy into my work. If you and your partner are struggling with communication, transitioning into new roles as parents, or co-parenting effectively, I am happy to work with you together as a couple to improve these dynamics

Everyone needs and deserves a little support sometimes. I look forward to working with you to support you in accomplishing your goals and improving your life.

A Little About Me

I hold a master’s degree in art therapy and a doctorate in the study of human behavior. I am a licensed clinical professional counselor, registered board-certified art therapist, and am trained in EMDR and perinatal mental health.

When I’m not working, I enjoy spending time with my partner, our young son, and our foxhound exploring nature, being active or creative, doing projects on our house, or checking out Portland’s craft beer and restaurant scene.
