Walk and Talk Sessions in Cumberland Coming in May!
I offer a down to earth girlfriend vibe with a direct approach where I'm not afrain to call it like I see it. I'll give you my thoughts, anecdotal and research based evidence to make you feel normal and a handful of things to actually "do" when life feels hard so that you can move through things differently.
I want to make this process as easy and comfortable as possible. If you're too depressed to get out of bed and put on real clothes, let's meet online- I'll stay in my sweatpants too, in solidarity. If your scheduled session accidentally coincides with baby's nap time, no problem, we can whisper over a walk and talk session while you push the stroller. Too nervous to talk about that really terrible thing you experienced without a dog or cat on your lap? Let's make that happen for you - I'm a huge fan of emotional support animals. Your session is yours to do what you like with. I support whatever you need to do in order to get the support you need.
Whatever it is you're going through, I can help you sort through the scary thoughts and overwhelming feelings you're having. I'll help you gain clarity and understand not only how and why you're affected by your experience, but what to do about it.
We'll start with a deep dive into your life history, identifying core beliefs established early in childhood that have impacted how you learned to interpret and cope with stress. These early formations hardwire certain patterns into your brain that evolve over time depending on the context of your environment, but are always present and impacting situations you find yourself in presently. Once we lay out "the things we know to be true about you" we can use this information to change your interpretation of things that feel hard, and provide new opportunities for responding that pave the way for long term change.
This may take time, but if you do the work and trust the process, we'll get you to the other side of things so you can regain control and get back to a life you enjoy.
My style is psychodynamic, interpersonal and solution focused. By joining you in whatever space you're in, sometimes as a companion and sometimes as a guide, together we can discover the meaning behind your experiences, thoughts behind your behavior, and cultivate the growth needed to get you your desired outcomes.
I hold a Master's Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, am certified in Perinatal Mental Health, offer EMDR specifically for birth trauma and truly enjoy walking alongside women as they discover who they really are and can be.
When I'm not seeing clients I can be found outside on chaotic adventures with my three kids, two dogs and husband, or inside microwaving my coffee for the 5th time because I'm in a season of life where there just isn't enough of me to be able to sit in one place for 10 full minutes. I'm a terrible cook, have zero athletic ability, can't seem to keep a single plant alive no matter how hard I try and typically neglect my domestic responsibilities until things absolutely cannot wait any longer. My "self-care" activities include walking in the woods, doing laps around Marshalls, drinking red wine mixed with water (I've been pregnant or nursing for nearly a decade...), ordering in restaurants, laying in the sun and fostering dogs in need until they can find their "fur-ever" homes.

Here are my three furry hooligans:
Harley (failed foster turned furbaby, living breathing teddy bear), Leena (my first child and forever princess RIP) and Twin (he came with that name, failed foster turned furbaby, little dog syndrome). If we are doing a walk-and-talk session, you are welcome to request any one of these "emotional support animals" for companionship and snuggles. Be warned, they all have their own special needs, just like us.
